The Times, They Are a-Changin'

On October 26, 1963, just over 60 years ago, Bob Dylan wrote and recorded the song, The Times, They Are a-Changin'. The song was released a year and a half later and became an anthem for an unstable time. By the mid-1960s, the United States had lost a President to an assassination and was ramping up an unpopular war in Vietnam. The Cold War with the Soviet Union was driving much of our economy, and unrest was coming to urban areas and college campuses all over the nation.

The “Turbulent 60s” was a time of major change, and while many people hoped the result would be a more peaceful and prosperous age, that age has yet to materialize. If anything, we are in a worse state than 60 years ago. Today, Bob examines the fruits of the seed sowed in the 1960s.
